2016 Writing Income

Past Writing Income Posts: 2014 2015

I like numbers. The best way to make business decisions is with numbers. So, following the lead of other authors, I am again posting what I earned this year.

New Stories Published

  • “The Gift of Tongues” – flash fiction – free – published June 2015
  • “The Legacy Left Behind” – flash fiction – free – sold to Flash Fiction Press

Number Copies Sold/Downloaded

2016 sales

  • Curelom Riders: 196 (56% of 2015 numbers)
  • Disability, Death, or Other Circumstance: 234 (107% of 2015 numbers)
  • The Gift of Tongues: 356
  • Infant Insomnia: 2 (100% of 2015 numbers)
  • The Best of the Rice of Life: 2 (18% of 2015 numbers)

I didn’t have as big of seasonal shifts this year as I did last year. “The Gift of Tongues” has been doing better than “Disability, Death or Other Circumstance” did in its first 6 months.

This year was in the red as I invested in the software Scrivener for writing stories. It’s been a great organizational tool. Haven’t been able to generate much from it yet, though. I haven’t marketed my stories at all. Still looking to sell more stories first.
