2015 Writing Income

Past Writing Income Posts: 2014

I like numbers. The best way to make business decisions is with numbers. So, following the lead of other authors, I am again posting what I earned this year.

New Books Published

  • “Disability, Death, or Other Circumstance” – flash fiction – free – published June 2015

Number Copies Sold/Downloaded

2015 number units sold

  • Curelom Riders: 351 (75% 2015 numbers)
  • The Best of the Rice of Life: 11 (45% 2015 numbers)
  • Disability, Death, or Other Circumstance: 219
  • Infant Insomnia: 2 (6% 2015 numbers)

Interesting things to note – Smashwords downloads dropped off in September after Curelom Riders fell off the results page. But Amazon picked up after Black Friday, and has continued strong. I’m sure including info about The Best of the Rice of Life in my e-books led to sales in summer and beyond.

Net Monies Earned 2012-2015

monies earned 2012-2015

  • Infant Insomnia – 2013: -$6, 2014: $8.25, 2015: $0.94 Total: $3.16
  • The Best of the Rice of Life – 2014: $55.35, 2015: $25.49 Total: $80.62
  • Sarimanok Feather – 2014: -$1.61
  • Disability, Death, or Other Circumstance – 2015: $0.35
  • blog – 2012: $11.99, 2013: $.58, 2014: $14.05, 2015: -$49.74 Total: -$23.12

In 2015, I invested in a domain name and business cards, which gives me a loss for the year. I also did 0 marketing, and only put out 1 new story, so I’m not surprised at the low numbers. I’m looking to increase revenue in 2016 by selling new stories, rather than monetizing the ones I already have.
